With Fenland Counselling you’re always in control.
We specialise in tailoring our counselling service to you.
Individual Counselling can help a great many people with a range of issues but all too often many people suffer in silence instead of seeking professional help. Fenland Counselling aims to make the process of seeking help as easy as possible. We do this by providing services that fit around you to make life just that little bit easier when it’s already at its hardest.
So when can Counselling help?
The chances are, if you’re reading this then you already know you may need to talk to someone and get the support you deserve. Unfortunately many people put off reaching out and continue to struggle on under the belief that their problems aren’t severe enough to warrant help. Others believe they have to make do and wait weeks or months on a waiting list. Often, people are simply labelled and given a service that offers little long term support.
If you’re unsure and want to talk to someone to explore whether counselling is right for you, then contact us free by using our contact page, or by email, phone or text. You can also use Whatsapp by clicking on the ‘How can I help you?’ button on this page. We’re always happy to to talk and answer any questions you may have.
The benefits of Counselling.
One of the most beneficial aspects of individual counselling is giving yourself the time to discuss your problems and concerns without judgement. Just knowing you have the ability to air your thoughts and feelings every week, fortnight or month with someone who’s truly their for you, can be enough to release stress and help you cope with any emotional problems.
Your counsellor is there to listen patiently, with empathy and understanding, but also to challenge you and encourage reflection and exploration . Talking in this way helps you make sense of your emotions, find resolutions and move forward in your life.
What can I expect during an Counselling session?
During you’re first session, you and your counsellor will discuss the counselling agreement. This is essentially the terms and conditions for both you as the client, and the counsellor. This is also when confidentiality will be explained so you know your information will be safe. It is normal for your counsellor to take notes where necessary, especially during the initial sessions.
After the initial paperwork, you and your counsellor will get to know each other. This allows both of you to decide if you can work together. Provided there are no problems, you will be able to proceed in a way that suits you. Fenland Counselling will never ask you to block book a number of sessions or expect you to reserve a session every week. Wherever possible, your counsellor will let you decide how the session will proceed.
During your sessions, your counsellor may discuss exercises, topics, workbooks and homework from various counselling methodologies. This gives you many options and allows you to make the decision about what fits best for you.
